Hopefully it will also be a little warmer. I say it's time for some spring weather already. I want them to be able to see the city without ...uh... side effects. Catching a cold during vacation is not fun :P
Life has been pretty normal around here. Just lots of reading. Ive been spending 4-6 hrs at the library or reading at home every day this week. I have to do some serious ahead-reading cuz I know I wont do much that week ...jejeje :"> Im so happy!
I plan on starting my translation of Mark today, and doing some cleaning. Living room and kitchen floors need some attention. and the windows too. and the wood furniture. and the microwave needs to be "washed" and disinfected. I've been on a cleaning splurge lately. I re-arranged my room, cleaned my closets, organized my papers and desk drawers… don’t ask me why, but I find it strangely rewarding. I think that the fact that cleaning is not studying also helps :P
Hmm… other from that, no news. Just studying. Freezing and studying.

So when you get to John ( is it really in the twenty seventh book?)
do they acknowledge that it was written in Aramaic & translated to Greek like all the other preceding texts...Or oops, is this just a little slip from my Jesuit teachers in high school that spent a few years in Constantinople? Or is all this heresy as per the current thought. Isn't there a book "Aramaic for Dummies"? That even an old monotheist can understand?

the problem is, though, that although the texts we do have present obvious marks proper to translations from the Aramaic, we don't have the original manuscripts. we just have copies of copies of translations. and many of them are in Greek. including John and Mark. fun, uh?

who found the text in Syria )Old Syraic)..wasn't it the 1800's...About the only one I read throuroughly was John...Supposedly penned first in Greek, but the sisters allegedly had an Aramaic version with a translation from Syriaic...True? False?

there's Codex H, which has a list of all 27 books in Greek, Aramaic, and Hebrew. But its just the list. and then there's the khaboris codex, but this one is a really late manuscript... though it's really important to the whole Aramaic Primacy movement, for what Ive heard. I dont know, though, which of all the hundreds of manuscripts that are out there has the main text for the P'shitta, which is probably the version you are talking about (the Syriac NT)... I'll look it up :)

well, it was Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Gibson, and sadly, it wasnt the P'shitta they found, but a late recension (meaning its a compilation of the gospels that shows significant textual editorial changes, most of which are usually made in an attempt to smooth out apparent textual contraditions or minor discordances with the editor's theology). Because it is late (the earlier the better) and because it is a recension, the palimpsest is not considered to be a reliable academic NT source. though Im sure it'd be a fascinating source for a paper on early ecclesiastical editorial tendencies :)!!

Just remember/Q is a southwest boy who spent his summers in the southwest desert. Boston is as alien to him as Serbia. I am very happy for Q .He seems to have found another person that knows the value of Aloe Vera, and the precious language that surrounds it.Q's M & D
