It was a nice... relaxing... and also productive weekend. Didn't sleep in at all, but I got caught up with my reading!! and then I slept in yesterterday, so I can't complain :)
Church was amazing! went to a service in Spanish :) The church is called Leon de Juda, and it's a Latin-American Pentecostal church. I went in a bit afraid of a spectacle, but I was pleasantly surprised to have really entered a temple. Worship was traditional in the Hispanic sense (contemporary, yet old songs and “coritos”). They had songs I used to sing when I was a kid… Levántate, Al Borde de Tu Gran Trono, Me Gozare, etc. Ah… the reminiscences …
There was a group of White people… young kids from a campus ministry that was going to Guatemala this week or next, and that was visiting to sell coffee to raise support. It was really cute… they kept looking at us during worship… hm… let me tell you, our worship style is not the par-tee Black American churches have, but we move to the music, and we clap, and we raise our hands, and we sing wholeheartedly. The youth group kept looking at us, wanting to do the same, but very few of them were brave enough to join us. It was cute, I thought… and I think if they keep coming they’d eventually enjoy the service as much as we do. The sermon was very good too… one of the most structured sermons I’ve heard in a while… woohoo! Someone went to seminary!! LoL… It was completely based in the Scripture… it was practical, it had a purpose, it was amazing. I’m not going to type my notes in here only bc I have to start getting ready for school in like 5 min.
So… I may have found my church. The drawback to having found a church that holds service exactly like we do in Mexico is that they are looOOoong. I never knew of a 1hr long service until I moved to Dallas. Lol… and now I’m so used to them that having gotten home at 4pm when the service started at 12 felt a bit odd. But I think the time investment is worth it. I felt like I had really, truly worshipped for the first time in a very long time. I really needed to. It was amazing :) !!
So… school is going great…. I expect to start getting my grades back sometime after Thanksgiving… but I wont tell you what they are cuz I don’t know how well I did… LoL… I’m hoping it’ll be good, with the exception of Greek, which is starting to make sense, but is still a pain in the butt. Lol…
Last night I went “out” with my friends.. went to someone’s house to watch like 3 episodes of “Arrested Development” and eat pizza. The show is sooo bad…it’s sooo sad it’s funny. Jejeje…
Ok.. gots to get ready for the day…
